The Lucasfilm Studio Panel did not disappoint! In addition to all the Disney Streaming updates, Kathleen Kennedy announced THREE new films for release in the next few years. No details on release dates were offered, but it's clear that Lucasfilm is taking an aggressive approach to expanding the Star Wars timeline! Here's the scoop:
Dave Filoni is directing a feature film tying together all the storylines in the Mandalorian timeline, including Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, Skeleton Crew, and more. Given the expected prominence of Grand Admiral Thrawn in this story, here at Happy Beeps we're going to call this one Filoni's "Heir to the Empire."
James Mangold is directing a "biblical" epic story set at the very beginning of the Jedi Order, in a new canon era titled "Dawn of the Jedi."
Finally, Oscar-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is developing a new story set 15 years after The Battle of Exegol, starring Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker as she trains a New Jedi Order!
Stay tuned for more information as it comes in!
